The Chamber is seeking strategic, passionate leaders to serve on its Board of Directors.
The North Essex Chamber of Commerce is looking for individuals who:

- Fiduciary Responsibility: As a board member, you take on significant responsibility for the, governance of the organization, including financial oversight and ensuring the organization fulfills its mission
Open Board Positions Include:
- President - The president interprets and implements the programs, policies, procedures and objectives of the Chamber. The President insures that coordinated programs, including projects and activities are developed in accordance with the purpose and objectives of the Chamber.
- Executive Vice President - The Executive Vice President exercises the powers and authority and perform the duties of the President in the absence or disability of the President. The Executive Vice President assists the President in public outreach.
- VP of Membership - The Vice President of Membership is responsible for the recruitment and retention of members. They also identify prospects, and act as the ambassador to new members and encourage existing members to be actively involved in chamber events. The membership committee assists with these duties and is led by the VP of Membership
- VP of Corporate Relations - The Vice President of Corporate Relations is responsible for the recruitment and retention of corporate sponsors and supporters. They identify prospects, liaise with all sponsors and partners, interface with major event committees to ensure sponsor support, and encourage continued support of the chamber from the partners.
- VP of Finance [Co-chair] - The Vice President of Finance is responsible for the safeguarding of all funds received by the Chamber and for their proper disbursement working with the Chamber's bookkeeper. The Vice President of Finance will make a monthly financial report to the Board.
- VP of Marketing - The Vice President of Marketing sets the marketing strategy for the Chamber to ensure all Chamber programs, projects, and activites are effectively communicated and promoted to the Essex County business community. They also liaise with marketing vendors.
- Secretary - The Secretary prepares the minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors. The Secretary also handles all incoming emails and phone messages and forwards them to the appropriate Board Member or Committee chair.
- Member-at-Large – Member-at-Large is responsible for providing strategic oversight, governance, and community advocacy. They attend meetings, review financial reports, recruit new members, and act as a liaison between the business community and the board.
Time Committment & Expectations
- Monthly board meetings - Generally 1 hour in length on Zoom
- Committee participation - Active service on at least one committee (e.g., Membership, Planning, Finance).
- Event attendance - Monthly breakfasts, evening events, etc.
- Recruiting New Members: Utilizing personal networks to grow the chamber membership.
- Fundraising Support: Selling tickets or sponsorships for events.
