Yvette Tay-Taylor truly believes that travel is a great way to get away from the rigors of everyday life, so it is only natural that she is the owner of Expedia Cruises in West Caldwell. But don’t be fooled by the name. They are a full-service travel agency and part of the Expedia Group family.

Expedia Cruises is a brick-and-mortar storefront agency. Anyone can come into the store and have a consultation and book a trip. The staff is also available by phone and online. They are with the customers every step of the way.

Yvette is a retired Federal Law Enforcement Official who worked for the federal government for over 27 years. This is her post-retirement dream – owning her own business that encompasses her passion for travel.

Yvette enjoys helping people create the perfect getaway. She shared, “It makes me happy to see the joy on the faces of clients when they book their vacations.”

Yvette’s inspiration comes from her family. Her parents emigrated from West Africa in the early 1960s and built a family and legacy in this country. They've always believed in hard work and dedication to craft. Yvette added, “My father recently passed away and my continued goal in life is to make him proud and carry the torch.”

Yvette is most proud of the growth of my team, from having only 7 travel advisors in the very beginning to now having 23 travel advisors aligned with her business. She continues to recruit and interview avid travel advisors who are passionate about the business. “I am super excited for our sales volume which is continuing to trend upward.”

Yvette and Expedia Cruises have been a member of the North Essex Chamber since 2023. She joined the North Essex Chamber of Commerce for the networking opportunities. The advice she would give to someone starting out in business is to do your proper research and know that it is a major commitment. You also must realize that it takes time for a business to fully prosper.

When Yvette is not working, she loves to travel and spend time with her family. The one word she feels describes her best is resilient. She shared, “I am always able to adapt, adjust and operate through changes with a positive attitude.”

Yvette added, “I would like to share a message for those who are afraid to travel. You are truly missing out on what the world has to offer. Life begins outside of your comfort zone!”
