Greg Monaco is a brand-new business owner. He just launched Gregory Monaco, CPA LLC this past September. Greg has prior experience with both small businesses and large publicly traded companies, a strong foundation in complex accounting as he strikes out on his own.

After working in corporate accounting, Greg realized that he wanted to do something more personal and impactful. Greg shares, “Big-company work was great experience, but I missed the feeling of helping real people. Starting my own business gave me the chance to build something that reflects my values: honesty, clarity, community, and service. And maybe most importantly, I get to build it right here in North Jersey — a place my family has called home for well over a century.”
What sets Gregory Monaco, CPA apart is that you always work directly with Greg — a licensed CPA who actually cares about your success. There’s no passing off clients to junior staff or outsourcing client data halfway across the world. They get personal, one-on-one service from someone who knows your business inside and out. Greg has been able to combine the experience he gained in the corporate world with the accessibility of a small local business. That means clients get the same level of expertise larger companies enjoy, but delivered in a way that’s approachable, transparent, and affordable.
Greg’s inspiration comes from his family. He comes from a large, hardworking family with roots in Essex County that goes back to 1890. Their work ethic, humility, and sense of community inspire him every day. Greg said, “I’m proud to call North Jersey my home and even prouder that this is where I’m building my business.”
Greg describes himself as relentless. Whether it’s finding a deduction or fixing a balance sheet that doesn’t balance, He doesn’t stop until it’s right. He added, “It’s a blessing… and probably a little annoying to anyone watching me triple-check my spreadsheets.” Helping people move from confusion to clarity is what Greg enjoys most. He shared, “Accounting and taxes stress a lot of people out — and I love showing them it doesn’t have to. For me, it’s like solving a big, satisfying puzzle. Every deduction found, every strategy optimized — it all clicks into place. “
Greg is a brand new member of the North Essex Chamber. He joined the Chamber to connect with other professionals who care about community and collaboration. “My family has lived and worked all over Essex County for generations so it means a lot to me to build my business right here where my roots run deep. I’m proud to call this my home and community — and honestly, it has the best food around. I can’t think of a better place to grow both personally and professionally.”
People may not be aware that Greg has launched “Season of Gratitude Giveaway” where $1 is donated every time there is a new social media follower to Feeding America (up to $1500). Greg explains, “It’s a way to give back to the community while celebrating my first holiday season as a business owner.”
If Greg could choose a mentor, it would be Warren Buffett. Buffet’s perspective on accounting is what first sparked Greg’s interest in the field.
Greg’s advice for others starting out in business is be patient, present, and deliberate in their actions. Trust your gut, do your homework, and have fun helping people.
